The Need for Funding

Most of the USA Clubhouses rely on Medicaid for funding either directly or indirectly, The others rely on state offices of mental health. While Clubhouses quickly pivoted to provide mobile and remote services to the thousands of people who rely on them and have prevented economic and personal crises, many are in jeopardy of serious budget cuts and shortfalls due to COVID-19. This is especially true if they can't bill for mobile or remote services at a reasonable rate.

If our behavioral health organizations fail, millions of vulnerable Americans will be left without the mental health and substance use treatments they need. Lack of access to adequate mental health and substance use care will lead to increased utilization of emergency services, over-crowded community hospital emergency departments, and

drastically increased health care costs. Now is the time to recognize mental and emotional wellness as a national priority.
